How to go viral systematically on LinkedIn
In this edition, we'll briefly cover:
- 3 post types with the highest chance of going viral
- Workflow we used to come up with viral posts
- How you can 'test it' for your LinkedIn profile
Lets begin!
3 Viral LinkedIn Post Types
Third one's the easiest and the .. funniest.
- Say the quiet part out loud
Example: Taking a shot at 'em dashes' or AI-written content in 2023/2024, everyone was annoyed and if you were one of the firsts to say it out loud - you'd have gone viral.
- Story posts
Example: I missed an internship at Google because I forgot to check my email for 2 weeks.
(people love stories, if you can keep them hooked till the end. Also add a picture of yourself if you can).
- Trigger software engineers (un)intentionally.
By far the biggest audience on LinkedIn is engineers. There's a way you can leverage them to drive reach for your post, while also reaching the "feed" of your actual target audience.
I'll try to dump examples at the end for each of these.
Workflow we used for LinkedIn Posts
Open this CustomGPT:
https://chatgpt.com/g/g-680e4fedf0d48191a0efc638dc3fef8f-ligo-for-linked-post-generator-scheduler
Then, read this medium article that documents the details of the approach (make sure to read till the end):
https://medium.com/the-efficient-entrepreneur/how-to-get-100k-impressions-on-linkedin-in-two-days-using-ai-31aa258ff2f0
Btw, here's 2 posts that we made using this method and both have gone viral:
- Made two weeks ago. 150K+ impressions so far.
2. Made 4 days ago, and LinkedIn just started boosting it. 25K+ impressions in the last 6 hours, and climbing every hour.
Since the second one is from my profile, let me show you a bit more from the analytics:
Here's what I noticed from the analysis:
- about 40% of the readers are software engineers (that's not my target audience); but the remaining 60% is.
- software engineers that have this problem, got triggered & engaged, driving the post to a wider audience (by function as well as location). I anticipate it will stop at about 200K impressions.
- MAANG engineers are very active. So mentioning "Google engineers" in particular in my full post might have helped push to this audience.
There's plenty more but those are the 3 most important items.
P.S: Going viral isn't as bad as most would tell you. These posts alone have gotten us 20+ inbound DMs, 2 of them were for 10+ LiGo seats for a whole team, and 5+ that are almost closed for our done for you LinkedIn service.
How you can test it for your LinkedIn profile
- Read the medium article for the method (particularly the conversation my co-founder had with ChatGPT).
- Identify who is in majority in your current followers list (e.g. engineers, marketeers, sales people, etc.).
- Write the hook for them.
- In the post's body, provide valuable content for your actual target audience. Then hit publish.
- Our CustomGPT helps with all of the above.
In the last 10 minutes, as I completed this edition, the post impressions have jumped by 1000:
Try it out, and let us know how it works for you. Feel free to message our co-founder, Rassam on LinkedIn if you'd like any help with your LinkedIn presence, or just reply to this email.
Best,
