A LinkedIn growth hack so bad it shouldn't work - but .. it does

"Copy Tony The Homie" Strategy by Alex

Alex, your fellow LiGo user, shared a strategy with me that he's testing for the past few weeks (I think he's overdoing it now but that's a separate discussion).

In the weeks before he tried it, he had 20 signups after hours of effort to his platform: FoundersTree.

In one week that he applied this strategy, it jumped to .. 91.

In this edition, we will breakdown his strategy and when to use it (if you do).

"Copy Tony, the Homie" Strategy

Before we talk about the strategy, have a look at the results:

  • 1000+ profile views from posts that used this strategy
  • 50K+ impressions
  • 300+ new followers (all inbound)

Note: The drop after 21st is because he took a few days off and tested some other stuff.

In terms of followers, he's gotten +300, while sending zero connection requests, all inbound.

The strategy in his words is:

"And all I do is take most trending post from linkedin lunatics - copy it word for word and insert my own promo in last paragraph 🤣"

It's quite literally.. as simple as that. To see examples of it, you can go go directly to his LinkedIn Profile.

Results associated with his goal so far:

  1. 20% increase in followers since he started using it.
  2. Over 150% increase in visits to his site.
  3. Has crossed 100+ people in the waitlist for FoundersTree.

Alex is building a noise-free platform for founders, do check it out (this is not a sponsored mention - I've seen the early version, and I like it):

When or how frequently should this be used?

Of course, this is up to you.

In my opinion, when you're launching something, a new product or a new service - and you need to get eyeballs fast: this is probably fine.

Copy something that you're "comfortable" with that has already gone viral (people do it all the time for the starting half of insta reels and youtube shorts).

And simply plug your message in the end.

But do not overdo it. Once or twice in a quarter, your audience might simply see it as you poking fun at something absurd you saw.

I've been testing LiGo's Chrome Extension on Twitter/X for the past 2 weeks, and the results so far have been amazing! See the below screenshot:

In the next edition, I will break down the strategy, the results - and how you could follow that for your twitter account as well (in case you are on twitter).
